Info Regarding My Quilting Process

At this time I only offer edge-to-edge quilting.

  • I currently have a two (2) week (14 day) turn-around period. Once I receive your quilt top and backing your quilt will be quilted and ready for pickup within 14 days.

  • I start each project with a new needle at no charge to the client. It is good practice for quilters to use a new sharp needle for ease of quilting.

  • I use Glide thread exclusively. It is a 40 weight trilobal polyester thread and has a brilliant sheen. I offer a variety of over 30 thread colors.

  • Should you not see a color that coordinates with your quilt, please let me know. Glide has over 200 different colors and for an additional $10.00 charge I will procure your desired thread color to use on your quilt. Please note that any quoted turn-around time is dependent on when that specific thread color is available. Once I receive your quilt top and backing, I will place an order for the specialty thread. Once the thread is received, I will begin work on your quilt. Therefore, quoted turn-around times do not start until all materials are secured.

  • Before loading every quilt I iron flat the quilt top and backing fabric.

  • I use the Red Snapper system to load my quilts on to the leaders.

  • When quilting, I sew a basting stitch 1/4" in from all four edges of the quilt. This is done to secure the top for quilting. I do not remove the basting stitches once quilted as I have found that it makes trimming and transporting the quilt easier.

  • I float my quilt tops. (It is not stitched onto its own leader. It is floated over the top bar smoothed and secured with Gammill Quilt Clips.)

  • I do not cut or trim quilt tops. Your quilt top is your work of art therefore I will not alter your vision by doing so.

  • Only upon request will I trim up the backing and batting to quilt top edge after all quilting is complete, and return all remaining backing and batting to you, this service is performed at no charge.

  • Once a quilt is loaded onto the Gammill they are never left unattended.

  • This is a smoke-free, temperature controlled, and insulated environment.

Disclaimers

Fullness Disclaimer - Fullness and/or puckers within a quilt top can not be quilted out. I cannot guarantee that puckers and tucks won't be sewn in. In some cases, excessive fullness in borders may result in quilted top corners not being square. The flatter your quilt top is the better the finished quilt. Measure quilt across the top, bottom, and center. Measurements should be fairly the same. Otherwise puckers may result during quilting.

Mechanical Disclaimer - Please be aware that the longarm machine is a mechanical device. Although I do my best to ensure perfect results every time, on very rare occasions mechanical problems can occur which may cause minor damage to a quilt top and or backing.

Pet Allergan Disclaimer - Queenie's Quilts is a small business, run out of my home. I am the proud pet owner of 2 cats that do have access to the room that my longarm is in when it is not in use. Although I do dust, wipe, vacuum, and lint-roll all the surfaces I use prior to each project, I can only guarantee the sterility of the working environment to a certain degree. Each quilt is kept in a clean, dust free plastic tote. The batting I have for sale is kept covered in plastic away from any cat hair.

Payment - I am an extremely new business and at this time I only have two ways of accepting payments and that is through Zelle or, if you pick up in person, cash. This may change in the future.

Quilt Requirements

You must provide the backing for your quilt top.

Your backing must arrive in one piece. Pre-pieced backing is acceptable.

Make sure to indicate the Top of your quilt top and quilt backing by attaching a post-it note with a pin to each. Draw an arrow or write on the post-it note indicating the top of the quilt.

Sheets will not be accepted as backing fabric or as quilt top panels.

Your backing must be at least 10" longer and 10" wider than your quilt top. This is needed to load the backing on the longarm machine.

  • Example: If the quilt top measures 66" wide and 86" long. Then the backing for the quilt must be at least 76" wide and 96" long.

If you are providing your own batting you must make sure it is the same size as your backing fabric.

All seams on the quilt top and backing (if pieced) must be at least 1/4".

Both quilt top and back should be pressed and all loose threads removed and folded for transport.

Pricing

Patterns range in price between $0.02 - $0.03 per square inch depending on the labor required for each pattern to stitch out properly. There is no minimum charge, or quilt size

.

Estimate Example: Quilt top measures 66"wide by 86" long.

66" x 86" = 5676 square inches.

5676 x $0.02 = $113.52 (plus cost of batting if not provided by you)

I offer a variety of over 30 thread colors which is included in the price of the quilting service. Should you not see a color that coordinates with your quilt, please let me know. Glide has over 200 different colors and for an additional $10.00 charge, I will procure your desired thread color to use on your quilt. Please note that any quoted turn-around time is then dependent on when that specific thread color is available. Once I receive your quilt top and backing, I will place an order for the specialty thread. Once the thread is received I will begin work on your quilt. Therefore, quoted turn-around times do not start until all materials are secured.
